Life is losing its diversity…

…according to a report by the Global Biodiversity Outlook. Nearly all biodiversity indicators are heading in the wrong direction. The rate of species extinction is at its highest since the end of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago while forests are losing six million hectares a year. Habitat loss through the expansion of agriculture and climate change as well as a whole range of other factors are contributing to the loss of biodiversity. There is an urgent need to make people aware that the damage caused will have severe economic consequences for our future as well as a reduction in the quality of life.
